Trinity Academy Akroydon’s Curriculum Intent for music aims to ensure that all pupils:

• Perform, listen to, review and evaluate music
• Be taught to sing, create and compose music
• Understand and explore how music is created, produced and communicated.

The nature of music is such that it allows creativity and the development of self-expression, building confidence, sensitivity and a sense of achievement. Music supports the vision of the school which sets out to develop empathy, respect, responsibility and honesty. Most importantly we aim to develop an enjoyment, awareness and easy familiarity with fundamental activities in music, using voice and both tuned and untuned instruments through a balance of composing, performing, listening and appraising.
